After news about the NSA’s PRISM program broke, there was a noticeable upward trend in the number of users of PGP/GNUpg submitting their keys to key servers. This was likely due to users that are familiar with the technology renewing their interest in email privacy, but possibly includes new users as well. In general I prefer S/MIME to PGP for email encryption, because it works beautifully on iOS devices. I do have keys available for those that wish to not email me postcards that people can snoop on.
