Too smart to be a cop?

A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city.

The rationale that smart people will simply become bored with police work is especially terrifying. I suppose if you live in Mayberry and you don’t need to solve cases beyond who stole a pie off a windowsill that’s fine — but New London has a higher-than-average crime rate which suggests recruitment shouldn’t involve weeding out the smarty-pants.
