I actually don’t know how to best share a mastodon post on my WordPress weblog π€·π»ββοΈ

In my house I’ve got an old workstation that has a lot of storage available and that I thought would be the best place to fire up that iCloud cache service in System Preferences > Sharing? It used to require macOS Server, but any ol’ macOS since High Sierra can do it.
If you don’t know what the service does, it’s a clever way Apple lets you stash OS updates and iCloud user data in safely encrypted blobs on your local network. So once I pull a macOS software update from the Internet (really probably an Akamai system like Apple does) or an iOS update or my Documents folder syncs up βΒ it can reconcile/validate/download from a local system instead of going off to the Internet and fetching yet another multi-gigabyte file.
Anyway, I checked in on it the other day just to see some idea of how useful it is and I was pretty impressed:

iCloud Content Cache is Great
PSA: Photo Mechanic 6 is out
I totally missed this when it finally got released β it’s been one of the classic workflow tools many working photographers use to quickly ingest and cull images from sets and events with ease before collecting them for processing.
But in the days of HiDPI displays and fast sharing to social media it was really starting to show it’s age. There are some cosmetic and UI enhancements you’d expect, and I’m about to find out how it handles Fuji X-Series compressed raw files π€π»

Later in my twenties I felt like I understood this lyric. It reminds me of the day that the profound sadness that permeated everything on the surface was not what I was supposed to be feeling.
That didn’t make it less comfortable, though. You can hear about that in Frances Farmer two (?) records later.
